as discussed!
But that was before Riku noticed a particular world being open in the vast space. Traverse Town shouldn't be in this world right now, and he's absolutely sure that he's not in someone's dream. Maybe something else happened to another world that made it appear.
Landing the ship and stepping off it, Riku's left feeling even more confused. If Traverse Town appeared because refugees from another world needed it, that should mean that there would be people here.
The first problem is that the world looks vacant. He only looked through the first section of the town, but all the shops and buildings were empty with little sign of anybody actually using them.
The second problem is that as soon as Riku opens the gates to the second district; Heartless. Many of them are just Shadows or Neoshadows, but there are swarms consisting of hundreds of them. And the ones closest to the gate instantly notice the Master's presence.]
Great. Not as if I don't have enough things to worry about.
HERP i never even got the notif for this :( sorry about that!
[and she's only made about an inch of progress. whenever a bullet cuts through the mass of creatures, dozens more pile into the trail left behind. and there isn't a witch here either, is there? no... leaving the barrier to recover no longer appeared to be an option, either — the portal had disappeared right behind her.]
[maybe that should have been her first clue that this outpouring of darkness she was battling was so different compared to the darkness she snuffs out on a nightly basis. her second clue was the boy who just walked in.]
[in a blink Mami's scaling the walls to the roof of the shops of the second district, and she's running toward Riku — her immediate instinct here is to protect, and despite looking a bit battered, she's moving with a renewed determination, the heartless still swiping at her heels.]
its okay <3
Unlike her, Riku's easily dispatching them with the Way to Dawn, but more still come in droves. Not to mention there's something in the corner of his eye, a yellow blur of some sort, that distracts him momentarily. Is someone else here with the Heartless?]
Hey! [It's all he can call out before some Soldiers sneak up behind him and lash out with sharp claws, slashing through his vest. Retaliation is swift though, and Riku spins around to swipe at them.]

[Mami, had, in the back of her mind, known she was outnumbered from the moment she first began fighting and the monsters poured toward her from every corner of the district. but she doesn't let that sinking reality betray the gentle smile she wears as she darts closer, finally to the roof of the building nearest Riku — she never has worn anything but friendliness and authority on her face, really.]
[but her words reveal far more than her smile ever would.]
Shall we make a run for it?
[ribbons unfurl from her being — he looks far more capable at fighting these than she is, but she's not about to let this stranger take them on alone, either. Mami is also more than willing to try to clear a way back to the door to District 1 so they can both escape.]

Maybe the world is here for her. She's the one that needs a world, a place. It's just too bad it's suffering from a Heartless infestation right now.
He waits for the Keyblade to return to him after tossing it in a circular direction and considers their options. She has to be tough to be able to survive for so long, but without a Keyblade, it wouldn't make much of a difference.]
You first. I'll cover you.
[And he lets loose a barrage of Dark Figaras. She better make use of her time, because he won't be able to keep that up for long.]
no subject
[no doubt those will be some of the first questions she asks when they're both free from harm's way, but for now, she's jumping past Riku and running toward the door, ribbons lashing out at stray Heartless behind her as she pushes the door open just barely wide enough to squeeze through. and once she's on the other side, Mami whirls around and clings to the edge of the door, holding it open so Riku can also slip through when he has the chance.]
no subject
A quick glance behind him shows how close the blond is to the door, and he has similar thoughts about her own techniques and magic. At first it looked like streams of actual Light, but when they move fluidly like fabric, that idea is quickly quashed. He's never seen any magic like that before.
Turning back to the Heartless, Riku leaps into the air and drives the Keybladr down into the ground, unleashing a wide wave of Light and energy. It's enough to snuff some Shadows and drive back even more, who quickly meet their ends with some more Firagas. It's enough of an opening for him to leap backward and make a break for the door, squeezing himself through the opening she made.]
S-shut it!
either Sora!

[and the incredibly smart man operating a raft attraction at the beach did an incredibly smart thing and put two very bitties on the raft together — and now there's no saving them from the giant wake that they're now approaching at high speeds.]
[and so tsubomi and sora are about about to lose a very lopsided fight against physics.]
Oh geez — hang on!
no subject
[ In her defense, she tried. And she at least has a life vest on, but the raft is not keeping Tsubomi where she should be, and as it slams into the wave and bucks up, there she goes. Soaring majestically.
Without helpful fairy mantles. ]

[sora tries his darndest to be graceful about his unintended exit from the raft, but unfortunately, his swan dive is more like a flailing sort of belly flop. and to add insult to injury, the driver of the boat seems not to have noticed the raft he's pulling is no longer occupied, and he and speeds on without them.]
[once the shock wears off and his limbs stop stinging from slapping against the water, sora's splashing around frantically, looking for that girl who was on the raft with him.]
Hey! Are you all right?
no subject
W-where's the raft??
no subject
Um ...
[okay, no panicking yet! they can still see the shore from here, though it's a bit of a swim. Sora's pretty confident he can do it, but...]
I think we're on our own! Do you think you can swim back to shore?
no subject
I-I can try...
no subject
[in any case, he kicks over to her, extending one of his hands out to her.]
It's okay — it'll be much easier if we do it together! Just stick to kicking for now, okay? Don't use your arms unless you really need to — I'll steer us to the beach.
no subject
[ But at the same time, she's inching her hand out to clasp his-- because he at least seems to know what he's talking about. ]
no subject
[at least, it should be a lot easier, considering there's two of them, and they shouldn't have to worry too much about being pulled under, what with the life jackets and all. once Tsubomi takes his hand, he gives her a reassuring smile.]
My name's Sora, by the way. Sorry we're meeting like this.
no subject
[ She's still subdued and miserable after having been thrown headlong into the ocean, but Tsubomi can muster a thin smile and that much reassurance. ]
But my name is Tsubomi... it's nice to meet you, um-- even like this.
no subject
Are you ready?
[he'll start leading the way back to shore at a relaxed pace, glancing back every so often, at Tsubomi, and at the waves in a search for one they could ride for a moment or two.]
[and Sora will keep on talking, too — because he figures it's easier to focus on talking than swimming, and also because he isn't so good at silence.]
no subject
What a day, though. ]
no subject
[NO PANICKING his feet just bumped against something — wait. it's the ground. success!]
All right, we made it!
no subject
[ Pardon Tsubomi, she's just going to flop over on the sand now. ]
no subject
Are you all right?
no subject
B-but thank you for your help, Sora-san.
no subject
You don't need to be formal — you can call me just Sora if you want. [because he figures that being flung off of a raft in the ocean and managing to swim back to shore is one of those surefire friendship-forming events.]
And, it was no trouble at all! I'm just glad we're both back on shore now.
no subject
[ But at least she can peel the life jacket off now and give it a shot wringing out her pigtails. Sora... was it? He did just help her out tremendously, so maybe she can give him a little less formality. If that's what he wanted. ]
